The mines department has set up 46 camps across eight districts under the jurisdiction of Jaipur superintending mining engineer (SME) to install vehicle tracking system (VTS) in 6,470 mineral transport vehicles from May 20, as part of efforts to strengthen monitoring and automate mineral transportation. SME NS Shaktawat said the VTS installation drive will be conducted till June 5 and is being carried out in Jaipur, Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Alwar, Tonk, Kotputli, Dausa and Neem Ka Thana.
“The camps are being organised to ensure on-the-spot installation of VTS devices in mineral transport vehicles operating in mining areas. The system will improve real-time monitoring of mineral transportation and strengthen oversight mechanisms for mining lease holders.”
Under the schedule, 11 camps will be organised in Jaipur mining division between May 25 and 27 for installation in around 400 vehicles. Similar drives are planned in Sikar for 500 vehicles, Jhunjhunu and Alwar for 1,500 vehicles each, Tonk and Neem Ka Thana for 1,000 vehicles each, Kotputli for 400 vehicles and Dausa for 170 vehicles.
“The camps are being held at mining clusters, stone crusher units and industrial locations across the region,” added official.
