More than half of Formula 1’s teams have changed their liveries for this weekend’s United States Grand Prix.
Alpine has become the latest team to reveal a tweak to its livery for the event at the Circuit of the Americas. It has added a bright yellow portion to its livery carrying the logo of sponsor Mercado Libre on its rear wing and the rear of its engine cover.
The team will also use its revised livery at the following weekend’s round in Mexico City and the event after that in Brazil. Alpine is planning tie-in promotional events in Mexico, Brazil and Argentina.
The latter country is home to its driver Franco Colapinto, who enjoys huge support there. Colapinto is “the face of Latin America’s growing presence in Formula 1”, said the team. “The sport is experiencing an unprecedented boom in the region, fuelled by the passion of millions of Latin American fans,” it added.
Williams made a similar change to their livery last year to incorporate the same sponsor when Colapinto was driving for them.
McLaren, Aston Martin, Williams, Racing Bulls and Haas have also produced special liveries for Austin’s round of the world championship. This is the greatest number of changes seen at a round of the world championship this year.
