Suzuki Motor Corporation President Toshihiro Suzuki, who is part of the delegation accompanying Japanese Prime Minister to India, on Thursday visited Maruti Suzuki India‘s Japan-India Institute for Manufacturing (JIM) in Manesar and the Institute of Driving and Traffic Research (IDTR) in Bahadurgarh, a day after the inauguration of the company’s Kharkhoda manufacturing facility.

Accompanied by Maruti Suzuki Managing Director and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi and other senior executives, Suzuki interacted with students at the manufacturing institute and reviewed the training facilities aimed at developing technical skills and Japanese manufacturing practices. The delegation also visited the IDTR, which provides driver training and road safety education.

“It was the greatest possible honour for Suzuki in India when both the Hon’ble Prime Ministers of India and Japan inaugurated our Kharkhoda plant yesterday. This places even more responsibility on us to recommit and rededicate ourselves to Viksit Bharat. The foundation of this is human development,” Toshihiro Suzuki said.

Maruti Suzuki said it has established four Japan-India Institutes for Manufacturing in Gujarat and Haryana to provide vocational training aligned with advanced manufacturing requirements. The company also operates eight Institutes of Driving and Traffic Research in collaboration with six state governments, which have trained more than 55.23 lakh drivers since inception, according to the company.
