McLaren and Red Bull are set to challenge the Monaco Grand Prix stewards’ decision to overturn the two penalties issued to Pierre Gasly.
Gasly was originally demoted from third place to seventh as he incurred a pair of penalties for speeding in the pit lane. The stewards overturned those penalties today after agreeing Gasly had not broken the speed limit.
However four other drivers were also found to have broken the speed limit and unlike Gasly served penalties related to them during the race. They include Oscar Piastri, who was relegated from fourth place to fifth when Gasly’s penalties were rescinded.
Piastri’s McLaren team and rivals Red Bull have now served notice of their appear to challenge the stewards’ decision. Red Bull driver Isack Hadjar originally finished third and attended the podium ceremony before being demoted to fourth by the stewards’ decision.
