  • The Zeekr 7GT debuts in Europe as the continent’s fastest-charging EV.
  • It can take up to 480 kilowatts and go from 10-80% in 13 minutes.
  • It’s also a practical wagon, which many Europeans prefer over sedans and hatchbacks.

Zeekr is Geely’s most luxurious brand, and whenever we’ve experienced one of these cars, it hasn’t disappointed—it was a perspective-shifting experience, in fact. The latest addition to its European lineup is the 7GT, the more practical load-lugging version of the 007 sedan, and it has a lot to offer.

It rides on an 800-volt platform that supports up to 480 kilowatts, making it the EV with the highest charging power available in Europe and enabling it to go from 10 to 80% in just 13 minutes (for the smaller 75-kilowatt-hour battery). The long-range 100 kWh battery requires an additional three minutes to reach 80%, but 16 minutes is still better than all other EVs available on the continent. The manufacturer also notes that a 10-minute charge adds 211 miles (340 km) of extra range, regardless of the battery pack.

In its most powerful dual-motor guise, it can sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.3 seconds; the single-motor variant is still pretty brisk with a 5.3-second sprint. The top speed is 130 mph (210 km/h) for all variants.

The manufacturer says it’s also great through the corners thanks to “precise steering, a balanced and predictable chassis, and the confidence that comes from clear, intuitive feedback.” The press blurbs call this a “driver’s car,” but we’ll reserve judgment until we drive a 7GT in Europe. We’ve already driven the Chinese-spec 007 GT, which is the same car, but the Euro version has been tweaked and refined further for sale on the continent.

Even though it’s a Chinese car, it looks distinctly European, just like its crossover cousin, the 7X. That’s because it was designed in Sweden specifically to appeal to European buyers, and it’s a great-looking car that doesn’t appear overstyled like some other Chinese cars in the same class. It’s elegant and understated like a true European, but it rides on a platform that’s more advanced than anything the continent can produce, at least when it comes to charging.

That’s because it doesn’t have the longest range, even in long-range trim, so it’s not the most efficient. Zeekr says a full charge can deliver 406 miles (655 km) of WLTP range for the 7GT single-motor rear-wheel-drive model. The base car with the 75 kWh battery gets a slightly lower rating of 322 miles (519 km), while the all-wheel-drive model with the larger battery is rated at 346 miles (558 km) on a single charge.

Pricing starts at €45,990 (including a €1,700 manufacturer discount) for the base Business Edition RWD model. The Long Range Launch Edition RWD is €50,990 (with a €2,400 discount), while the top Privilege AWD model is €57,490 (with a €2,500 discount). You can place an order for a Zeekr 7GT today, and deliveries are scheduled to begin in July; all models incur a €1,000 delivery fee.
