Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Limited (TPEVCSL), a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, on Wednesday said it signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Varanasi Smart City Limited (VSCL) to strengthen electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across Varanasi and support the city’s transition towards sustainable mobility.
Under the partnership, TPEVCSL and VSCL will identify and deploy EV charging stations at key locations across the city, including public parking areas, transit hubs, municipal assets, commercial centres and tourist destinations.
The charging network will be designed to expand in line with the city’s evolving mobility requirements, the company said.
The initiative aims to improve access to charging facilities by focusing on high-traffic, transit-oriented locations and providing convenient, reliable charging options for EV users.
The collaboration supports the Uttar Pradesh government’s green mobility objectives and aligns with the Smart Cities Mission.
TPEVCSL already has an established presence in Varanasi, with EV charging installations at locations including Taj Ganges, Hotel Surya and Brijlax Motors TML. The company said the new partnership will further accelerate the development of EV infrastructure in one of India’s key cultural and tourism centres.
