- 50 years ago today Jody Scheckter scored the only victory for a six-wheeled Formula 1 car, winning the Swedish Grand Prix at Anderstorp in his Tyrrell P34
- 40 years ago today the newly-completed Hungaroring held its first event, the Eastern Bloc Peace and Friendship Cup. A mix of single-seater and saloon car races were held over three days, attended by 30,000 people.
