Welcome to Monday’s edition of the RaceFans round-up.

Comment of the day

@SonnyCrockett is very pleased to see a McLaren driver win the world championship for the first time since Lewis Hamilton in 2008.

It’s been a tough 10-plus years for us McLaren fans!

During the Honda-engined Alonso era I vividly recall being openly laughed at by fans of Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes when wearing my McLaren gear at races. I guess those lows make the team, and Lando’s, achievement even sweeter.

Huge plaudits to Zak and Andrea too. They’ve taken a team that was on its knees and turned it into a world-beater.

Well done Lando and McLaren, you’ve made me very, very happy!

2025 season complete (Williams)

Carlos Sainz Jnr: ‘Massive congratulations to Lando on his first drivers’ championship! He’s an incredible driver and he has proven that you can achieve your highest goals staying true to yourself! Congrats my muppet friend! Well deserved!’

Thanks to the team for all the hard work and thanks to the tifosi (Ferrari)

Frederic Vasseur: ‘First of all congratulations to Lando on winning the title. Ever since his days in karting it was obvious that he has a special talent and this title is well deserved and well done also to McLaren for giving him the equipment to get the job done.’

Race recap (Haas)

Ayao Komatsu: ‘At the start of the day, we aimed to get both cars into the points. We achieved it until Ollie’s penalty – which I thought was really harsh, however – that’s the rule.’

Sunday (Sauber)

Nico Hulkenberg: ‘All things considered, I’m very happy with ninth – it’s a good way to end the last race of the season. It’s also a nice way to say goodbye to Sauber — Peter has such a legacy, he’s been in the industry so long and I have big respect for what he’s achieved.’

Feature race: Duerksen wins again around Yas Marina (Formula 2)

‘Joshua Duerksen signed off the 2025 FIA Formula 2 season on the top step once again, winning the Yas Marina Feature Race for AIX Racing. He headed up Roman Stanek, who claimed second and helped Invicta Racing retain the teams’ championship title. Gabriele Mini completed the podium for Prema Racing in third place.’

Four years of cars which FOM endlessly hyped and repeatedly promised would deliver better racing summed up by Oscar Piastri saying ‘at least we don’t have to drive these cars again’ after the final race.#F1 #AbuDhabiGP #RaceFans
