Racing Bulls has acknowledged a video which appeared to show a member of its team behaving disrespectfully in reaction to Lando Norris’s victory last weekend.
The video (below), widely circulated on social media, shows a man in Racing Bulls team kit filming himself in front of the podium gesturing with his thumb down while Norris received his trophy. The gesture was interpreted by some as encouraging the Brazilian Grand Prix crowd to boo Norris.
In a statement, Racing Bulls said: “We’re aware of the video from the weekend’s podium.
“It doesn’t reflect our team’s values or the spirit of VCARB [Visa Cash App Racing Bulls]. The matter has been handled internally.
“We believe in celebrating great racing and showing respect to every driver, team, and fan both on and off the track.”
Racing Bulls is one of two F1 teams owned by Red Bull. Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen remains in contention for this year’s championship but fell 49 points behind Norris last weekend.
Norris was booed by some in the crowd following his victory in the preceding round at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico. He said he found it amusing.

“I don’t know why, I can’t stop laughing when I get booed,” said Norris. “I think it makes it more entertaining for me. So they can keep doing it if they want.”
Norris added he would “prefer it if people cheer for me” but said he wouldn’t dwell on it. “I just concentrate on doing my thing. It was the same in Monza and a few other places.”
“People can do what they want, honestly,” he added. “They have the right to do it if they want to do it, I think that’s sport sometimes.”
