Welcome to Tuesday’s edition of the RaceFans round-up.

Comment of the day

Might half the grid’s teams win races this year, as Mercedes’ technical director James Allison suspects will happen? There was quite a bit of scepticism from our readers.

Press X for doubt.

I somehow have a strong feeling McLaren will have a car like last year except they’ll actually be serious and Lando will be crowned champion.

Red Bull I’m not so sure, not because Newey left but because it takes a while to recover. Ferrari are interesting but I don’t trust them to make a car that works all around the year. Mercedes could be a surprise. Maybe Norris versus Russell could be interesting for the title.

Curious to see what happens. Would prefer if all four cars are close enough to have drivers make a difference but doubt that’ll happen.

Verstappen & Aston Martin: Was ist dran an der Milliarden-Story, Dr Marko? (Motorsport Total – German)

Helmut Marko: ‘It’s no secret that Newey is a big Max fan. And then it’s only logical that they make him an offer.’

Season customisation feature deep dive (F1 Manager)

‘F1 Manager 2024’s latest feature update brings a series first on Tuesday 25th February, introducing the brand-new ability to customise seasons in Create A Team mode. This new feature enables you to extend some of the customisation options of Create A Team to the entire grid, move existing drivers and staff between teams, create your own drivers and staff, and more.’

‘I’ve got high standards…and I have full faith in this squad’ (McLaren)

Zak Brown: ‘The new car for 2027 is a positive move for the series. While the Dallara DW12 has been a safe and prolific car that has provided some outstanding racing, we’ve waited too long before taking the next step forward. I’m glad we’re embracing newer technology and refreshing a great product from Dallara. ‘

‘No sense of complacency’ for Lindblad after finishing fastest on day one of testing (Formula 2)

‘The 17-year-old, alongside several other drivers, strapped a set of the Soft tyres on late in the day, before completing a 1:24.415 to put him up to P1.’

The CS55 Racing Karting Academy open registrations for its second season (Carlos Sainz Jnr)

‘I am very proud that CS55 Racing Karting Academy establishes itself as the first step in karting for children from all over Spain. Racing is an expensive world and not very accessible, but with this partnership with the RFEdA (Real Federacion Espanola de Automovilismo) we have built a platform so that little kids can take a first step and start their journey in motorsports at a reasonable cost for their parents.’

Christian Ho crowned 2024 Eurocup-3 champion (Campos)

‘Campos Racing appealed decision number 17 of the race stewards, who deemed valid the overtaking manoeuvre by Emerson Fittipaldi Jnr on Christian Ho using the turn one escape road during race one in Montmelo on November 9th, 2024. On December 4th, 2024, the Appeals and Disciplinary Committee of the Spanish Motorsport Federation (CAD) upheld the appeal, overturned the decision, and penalised MP Motorsport and Fittipaldi with a five-second penalty in race one, which ultimately awarded the championship to Christian Ho. Subsequently, MP Motorsport took the case to the FIA International Court of Appeal, which, following the hearing on February 11, 2025, ratified the CAD’s decision, officially confirming Christian Ho as the rightful Eurocup-3 champion.’

The Bahrain International Circuit operators have made a few noteworthy changes since Formula 1 last raced there.

The bumps on the start/finish straight and at turn nine have been eased
Turn four now has a larger gravel trap
Several drains by the track edge have been relocated
