  • Over 110,000 Cayenne EV configs in 4 days and 10,500 users registered real purchase interest.
  • The wide range of customization options means the likelihood of seeing two identical Cayenne EVs is slim.
  • It has a starting price of $110,350 in base trim, but the 1,000+hp Turbo starts at $165,350.

Are potential buyers interested in the new electric Cayenne? Porsche seems to think so, pointing to the 110,000 completed configurations on its U.S. website in the first four days after the new EV was unveiled.

One explanation for this potential interest could simply be that the new Cayenne configurator is a lot of fun to play around with. I know because I configured my own a few days ago, although I built my dream Cayenne EV on a European website, not the U.S. one, so my configuration didn’t count toward this figure—you can see what resulted in the gallery below.

You can order it in one of 13 different exterior colors paired with 12 interior combinations and there are nine available wheel designs, most of which have different available paint finishes. This means there are thousands of individual combinations that buyers can choose, especially if you take all the other cosmetic and comfort options that are available, so the chances of seeing two Caynne EVs in identical spec are slim.

Porsche notes that while the over 100,000 individual saved configurations won’t translate to actual orders, it has registered 10,500 people who said they were interested in ordering a Cayenne EV. That’s roughly half of the nameplate’s 2024 sales figure, which totaled over 22,000 units while only being available with combustion or plug-in hybrid power.

The new Cayenne looks quite different from previous generations, marking a departure from the formula that Porsche has been refining since 2002. The original Cayenne was met with controversy when it was first shown almost 25 years ago, but it eventually ended up being the company’s biggest seller and it’s credited as having saved Porsche, which wasn’t doing all that well financially at the time. Today, SUVs account for the bulk of Porsche’s sales around the world.

Under the skin, the Cayenne EV rides on an 800-volt platform, like the smaller Macan EV. It has a much bigger battery, it charges much quicker and is considerably more powerful, though. With 1,140 horsepower and a 0-62 mph (100 km/h) time of 2.5 seconds, the current top version, the Cayenne Turbo Electric, is seriously fast, but it can also recharge its 123-kilowatt-hour battery quickly, taking just 16 minutes to go from 10% to 80%.

Porsche has opened the U.S. order books for the Cayenne with a starting price of $111,350 for the 435-hp base model. If you want 1,140 hp, the starting price for the Turbo is $165,350, and if you want it to look like the one I configured, it’s going to be well over $200,000. The first U.S. deliveries are slated for “late summer” 2026.
