In a move to enhance transparency and improve user awareness, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has directed its field offices to prominently display information about the ‘Local Monthly Pass’ and ‘Annual Pass’ at all fee plazas under its jurisdiction. The initiative aims to inform commuters about the availability, rates, and procedures for availing these concessional passes.

Signage and digital information

Details will be displayed on signage boards at visible locations such as toll plaza approaches, customer service areas, and entry or exit points. The boards will be in English, Hindi, and regional languages. NHAI has instructed field offices to install them within 30 days and ensure visibility during both day and night as per fee rules. The information will also be available on the Rajmargyatra mobile app and NHAI project websites.

Pass details and eligibility

The Local Monthly Pass is available to private vehicle owners residing within 20 km (or as applicable) of a toll plaza. Applicants need to provide an Aadhaar card, vehicle registration certificate, and proof of residence. Passes are issued at the toll plaza helpdesk after document verification. The Annual Pass, valid for one year or 200 toll crossings, can be purchased through the Rajmargyatra app for a one-time fee of ₹3,000. It applies only to private vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans, and is digitally activated on the user’s FASTag. The pass is valid at about 1,150 toll plazas nationwide.

NHAI said the move underscores its commitment to improving user experience, making highway travel more economical, and enhancing transparency in toll operations across the country.
