Verification of EVs for the parking concession will be done through valid registration certificates and other prescribed documents wherever required, according to a public notice.

The NDMC on Friday flagged off a free bus shuttle service for its employees and issued a formal order of 50 per cent concession in parking charges only for EVs for the general public at all its parking sites from May 18.

The shuttle bus services will be available from four residential areas – Palika Awas, Sarojini Nagar; Palika Gram, Laxmibai Nagar; Amrit Kaal Niwas, Jor Bagh Road; and Bapu Dham Flats, Chanakyapuri, an official statement said.

The buses will reach designated points at 9 am and leave for Palika Kendra at 9.30 am. In the evening, they will depart from Palika Kendra at 5.30 pm and reach residential areas by 6 pm. There will be a nodal officer for each route, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) said.

The service would be expanded from Monday to cover 14 more residential areas through 16 buses.

These include Palika Kunj, Mehar Chand Market; Palika Niwas and Multistorey Flats on Lodhi Road; Palika Milan; Pushp Vihar, Saket; Valmiki Sadan; Gandhi Sadan; Palika Niketan, R K Puram; Palika Enclave, Moti Bagh; and Rohini Housing Complex.

The civic body also introduced an EV auto service between Palika Kendra, nearby metro stations (Patel Chowk, Rajiv Chowk, Janpath) and SBS Gole Market, as well as an EV scooter service for field staff to provide last-mile connectivity, an official statement said.

NDMC Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal announced that the 50 per cent rebate in parking charges for electric vehicles at its parking facilities will start from Monday.

He said that the NDMC is the first municipal council which has implemented such a policy, and the move follows the nationwide appeal by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for fuel conservation and promotion of energy-efficient practices.

“This decision is a significant step towards realising the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ‘Green Mobility’ and ‘Sustainable Urban Transport‘,” Chahal said.

Verification of EVs for the parking concession will be done through valid registration certificates and other prescribed documents wherever required, according to a public notice.
