Union Minister for New & Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, on Tuesday urged corporates to adopt solar-powered charging for electric vehicles (EVs), highlighting its potential to reduce oil imports and cut carbon emissions. As per a PTI report, the remarks came during the launch of Refex Mobility’s operations, a Chennai-based corporate EV fleet operator.“To truly unlock the promise of electric vehicles and smart energy-efficient transportation, we must ensure they are powered by the sun,” Joshi said. “I urge corporates to lead the way by adopting solar-based charging for their EV fleets, building greener, healthier cities in line with ESG commitments.” The government is offering up to 80 per cent of project costs to support EV owners and charging infrastructure developers. Joshi also highlighted efforts to advance clean green hydrogen as a future energy source.
