Maharashtra tops India in PV sales in Q3: SIAM report

India’s automotive market recorded varied growth trends across vehicle categories in Q3 of FY 2025-26, with Maharashtra leading the country in passenger vehicle (PV) sales. According to SIAM’s state sale data, 1.58 lakh units were sold in Maharashtra during the period. Uttar Pradesh came in at the second spot in PV sales, followed by Gujarat, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

As per the report, Western Zone led the PV sales with 4.21 lakh units. Overall, 12.76 lakh units of PVs were sold in the country during the October-December period of FY26.

Segmental growth

The two-wheeler segment saw 56.96 lakh units sold, with the Western Zone again leading regional sales with 19.06 lakh units, the data revealed.State-wise, Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest state-level sales at 8.62 lakh units, ahead of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Bihar.

In the three-wheeler category, sales stood at 2.15 lakh units in Q3. Under this, the Western Zone contributed 0.68 lakh units. Gujarat led the category with 0.25 lakh units. followed by Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Bihar.

The commercial vehicle category saw 2.90 lakh units sold nationwide. As per the report, Maharashtra topped state-level sales with 0.46 lakh units, with Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka following.
