Piastri wins the Dutch Grand Prix! Verstappen takes second and Hadjar claims his first podium finish.
Piastri keeps his lead at the restart.
Norris is out, Verstappen takes second and Hadjar moves onto the podium!
L65 Norris’s car is smoking! He’s slowed down.
Haas’s gamble paying off as Bearman passes Gasly for eighth. Antonelli now has a five-second penalty as well, so Bearman could have seventh off his former Formula 2 team mate.
Tsunoda, on softs but nursing a power unit problem, passes Bortoleto who’s dropped to 12th.
Piastri releases the field, the McLaren pair on hards with Verstappen stalking on softs.
L57 The Safety Car is coming in, Antonelli is somehow seventh but has a 10 second penalty and is under investigation for speeding in the pits. Gasly, Alonso and Bortoleto are the rest of the top 10 and Bearman, 11th, might finally have a chance to take a point.
Both McLarens pit, neither get a quick stop but it makes no difference as they’re well ahead of Verstappen.
Disaster for Ferrari, both cars now out of the race. Safety Car deployed.
L53 Ferrari reacts and brings Leclerc in for set of softs. He rejoins ahead of Antonelli who hits him!
L52 Alonso has pitted and already passed the two Sauber drivers. Antonelli pits for a set of softs and rejoins in sixth.
Sainz is unhappy about his penalty: “The most ridiculous thing I’ve hard in my life.”
Mercedes ask Russell to let Antonelli by and he complies.
L41 Norris almost within a second of Piastri. Verstappen 4.8s behind.
The stewards are investigating the Leclerc-Russell incident but for ‘causing a collision’ rather than an off-track overtake.
Leclerc has had his lap time deleted for being outside track limits at turn 12 on lap 32 when he overtook Russell.
Russell says Leclerc was off the track when he overtook him.
Sainz has been given a 10 second time penalty for causing a collision.
L32 Leclerc muscles his way past Russell with an opportunistic move at the restart, the pair making contact in the Hans Ernst Bocht.
L31 Virtual Safety Car deployed due to debris. The Lawson-Sainz collision is under investigation.
L29 Piastri has quickly pulled out a two-second lead on Norris.
Sainz pits for a new front wing, he and Lawson made contact as the Williams driver tried to pass him on the outside of Tarzan.
The drivers kicks up a lot of dust in the Hunzerug, presumably from someone going off.
The race restarts but Lawson and Sainz are slow, looks like they made contact at the exit of turn one.
Hamilton’s crash inadvertently cost his team mate a place – Russell got ahead of Leclerc by pitting under the Safety Car.
Safety Car deployed. Piastri pits, followed by Norris who loses a little time but it won’t cost him a place. Verstappen next, then Hadjar and Russell.
Hamilton’s crashed! He’s out.
L23 Leclerc pits from fifth, he takes a set of hards.
Verstappen is the only driver left on softs. Norris has slipped back slightly from Piastri.
The rain is picking up. Red Bull bring Tsunoda in for hards.
L19 As Antonelli remains stuck behind Tsunoda, Aston Martin bring Alonso in from behind him, for a set of hards. He falls to last behind his team mate.
The stewards are investigating Sauber for leaving Bortoleto’s car on track in an unsafe condition. The front-right end plate fell off and Stroll ran over it.
L17 Still little rain so far, Norris now three seconds behind Piastri. Verstappen has fallen nine behind.
Stroll is the fourth-fastest driver on track following that pit stop.
L12 Norris has done the fastest lap and is now within four seconds of Piastri.
Racing Bulls tell Hadjar their spotters have not seen any rain yet. The stewards are not investigating the Bortoleto-Stroll collision.
Stroll pits for hards.
L9 Norris easily passes Verstappen with DRS for second place. He’s four-and-a-half seconds behind Piastri.
Bortoleto has picked up front-left end plate damage in contact with Stroll.
L7 Norris is pushing to get within DRS range of Verstappen.
Dudley to Russell: “We’re expecting this rain to be light initially but will last seven to ten laps.”
Piastri being warned that light rain will hit the track in a few laps.
L3 Leclerc is having a look at Hadjar after passing Russell. Albon made a great start from 15th on mediums and is 10th behind his team mate.
The Dutch Grand Prix is go! Verstappen immediately passes Norris for second behind Piastri.
The drivers are taking their places on the grid ready for the start.
The majority of drivers will start on the medium tyre compound. Verstappen is on softs, as is Tsunoda, Colapinto and Hulkenberg. Ocon and Bearman on hards.
Race control say there is a 60% chance of rain during the grand prix. A band of rain has begun to develop to the south of the track and is moving towards it but there’s no indication yet it’s going to hit.
Five drivers are already under investigation before the race has started. Hamilton for a yellow flag infringement and Verstappen, Norris, Hulkenberg and Sainz for failing to adhere to the maximum delta time. These will all be investigated after the race.
Here’s which tyres each driver has available for the race. Only the McLaren drivers still have two sets of hards (one of which is used). Verstappen is the only driver among the top 10 with a fresh set of soft tyres – will he consider using them for the start of the race to attack the McLarens?
The cars are now formed up on the grid ready for the start of the formation lap.
The drivers are completing their reconnaissance laps before heading to the starting grid.
With an hour to go until the start of the race conditions are overcast but the track is dry and there’s no sign of any rain heading towards the area.
The final starting grid for the Dutch Grand Prix has been confirmed by the FIA.
For the second day in a row, Aston Martin have repaired Lance Stroll’s car. FIA documents confirm it required the following after his crash in qualifying: front wing/nose assembly, floor assembly, rear wing assembly, right-hand-side mirror assembly, right-hand-side front corner suspension assembly and associated brake duct, left-hand-side front brake duct, gearbox assembly and associated control hydraulics, LHS and RHS rear complete suspension assembly and parameter changes associated with the listed components replacement.
There’s only been one change of note to the grid since yesterday. Oliver Bearman will start the race from the pit lane after a power unit change.
