Over 1,000 vehicles were inspected, and more than 200 challans were issued.

The state transport department has launched a joint enforcement drive with the police against illegally modified vehicles and other violations of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Officials said special checks will be conducted across the city and at toll plazas to identify offending vehicles entering Jaipur. Joint teams from the transport department and the traffic police have been deployed at the Rajadhok, Bagru, Shivdaspura, and Hingonia toll plazas in the city.

On Wednesday, over 1,000 vehicles were inspected, and more than 200 challans were issued.

The campaign will target vehicles without number plates, those fitted with unauthorised modifications and vehicles misusing red and blue beacons or stripes. Officials said strict action will be taken against violators as part of efforts to improve road safety and ensure compliance with traffic regulations.

“We appeal to vehicle owners to ensure their vehicles adhere to prescribed standards and to refrain from violating any regulations. Failure to do so will result in punitive action in accordance with the law. Under this campaign, vehicles will be inspected at all major toll plazas around Jaipur, along national highways and at various entry points into the city,” a senior official said.

“Many drivers violate regulations by removing number plates, installing fancy number plates, altering silencers, fitting additional lights or modifying the vehicle’s original structural integrity. In all such instances, punitive action will be initiated under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act,” the official added.

Inspections will also focus on the misuse of red and blue stripes affixed to vehicles, fraudulent designations, unauthorised hooters, flashing lights and other forms of misused VIP identification. Drivers found using such markings or symbols without proper authorisation may face penalties, including the issuance of challans and the impounding of their vehicles.
