As the global auto industry bets big on electric vehicles (EVs), Hinduja Tech has called for a broader “multi-pathway” approach to sustainable mobility, combining EVs with hydrogen, biofuels, public transit, walking, cycling, and digital transport systems.

In its latest blog, the company argued that no single technology can meet the diverse mobility needs of both dense cities and rural regions. “Solving how we move people and goods more cleanly isn’t about finding a silver bullet — it’s about combining many different solutions in smart ways,” it noted.

While EVs are vital to decarbonisation, the firm highlighted their limits in long-haul and heavy-duty transport. Alternatives such as hydrogen fuel and biofuels, it said, will be essential for trucks, buses, and sectors where batteries are less viable. Smart mobility solutions, including ride-sharing, integrated ticketing, and data-driven traffic management, can further cut congestion and improve efficiency. The report also urged policymakers to design strategies tailored to local realities. “Copy-pasting urban solutions into rural areas will not deliver sustainability,” it warned, stressing the need for community participation and flexible regulations.Equally important, Hinduja Tech said, is a shift in focus from cars to people. Investments in sidewalks, cycle lanes, and mass transit can reduce dependence on private vehicles, while mobility data can help city planners target hotspots and forecast demand. However, the blog cautioned that such systems must safeguard privacy and ensure inclusivity.“By combining technology, data, improved planning, and smarter travel habits, a multi-pathway approach enables progress for all,” the company said, positioning the strategy as a way to achieve cleaner air, fairer cities, and climate-aligned mobility.
