High-capacity EV charging station opens at New Ashok Nagar Namo Bharat station in Delhi

National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has commissioned a high-capacity electric vehicle (EV) charging station at the New Ashok Nagar Namo Bharat station, expanding its EV charging network to nine stations across the corridor.

The facility, among the largest public ultra-fast EV charging stations in Delhi, has 14 digital charging points, including seven 240 kW chargers, four 360 kW ultra-fast chargers and three 480 kW ultra-fast chargers designed for heavy-duty electric vehicles, according to NCRTC.

The charging station can cater to multiple private and commercial electric vehicles, including electric buses, simultaneously. It is equipped with advanced safety and monitoring systems, while users can locate and access the facility through a mobile application, it said.

NCRTC said the station will enable commuters using private EVs to charge their vehicles while using the Namo Bharat service and will also benefit residents of nearby areas. Improved access to charging infrastructure is expected to encourage greater adoption of electric vehicles.

With the commissioning of the New Ashok Nagar facility, NCRTC now operates EV charging stations at nine Namo Bharat stations —Sahibabad, Guldhar, Duhai, Muradnagar, Modinagar South, Modinagar North, Meerut South, Anand Vihar and New Ashok Nagar, it stated.

The corporation added that environmental sustainability has remained a focus since the inception of the Namo Bharat project, with initiatives including the use of renewable energy, energy-efficient infrastructure and measures to strengthen last-mile connectivity.
