Lewis Hamilton, Ferrari, Hungaroring, 2025

Lewis Hamilton says his recent results have not reflected how much more comfortable he feels in his Ferrari.

The seven-times world champion has been adapting to Ferrari’s car since his move to the team from Mercedes at the beginning of the year. He scored a trio of fourth-place finishes before the summer break but hasn’t finished inside the top five since returning.

Hamilton has won four times in Singapore and taken victories with both his previous teams. He hopes to capitalise on that form this weekend.

“I feel positive going into the weekend,” Hamilton told the official Formula 1 channel. “It’s a track that I’ve generally gone well at.

“I’ve started to feel a lot better in the car since the summer break, however the results haven’t shown that just yet. But it’s going to happen.

“I’m hoping it’s going to be this weekend. This is the first time driving a Ferrari at this track. But having known places like Baku, how the car reacts in a circuit like this, hopefully I can start a couple of steps further ahead than I was in the last race, for example, and I hope we can carry that through the weekend.”

He began the last weekend in good shape, setting the quickest time in practice on Friday. However he failed to reach the final round in qualifying, having run the unfavoured soft tyres in Q2.

From there he was only able to climb to eighth place. Hamilton said he needs to avoid similar pitfalls this weekend.

“If we can execute better through this weekend and qualify better, I think we can have a much better result,” he said.

“There’s lots of positives to take from the last race,” he added. “I’m definitely feeling better in the car.”
