Last year’s constructors’ champions McLaren have presented the livery they will race with during the upcoming season.
McLaren revealed its new car, with which it will attempt to defend their title, in a one-off testing livery at Silverstone last week. The team showed off its definitive paint scheme at Formula 1’s official launch event for the 2025 season in London.
The reigning champions benefit from continuity as they head into the new season. They are one of just two teams with an unchanged driver line-up: Lando Norris, last year’s runner-up in the drivers’ standings, remains at the team for a seventh season, alongside Oscar Piastri, who is now in his third year.
McLaren revealed a largely unchanged livery for the 2025 season. The team said they intended to continue their “rich historical tradition of carrying over livery design templates when winning a championship.” Their 2024 title was their ninth, and the first victory for the team in 26 years.
“This marks a special moment in the year as we begin the defence of the FIA Formula 1 constructors’ championship title,” said McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown. “In line with McLaren’s longstanding tradition, our 2025 design is a strong evolution of the title-winning livery.”
Lando Norris said “I’m sure the fans will love the tradition incorporated in the design” of the car’s colour scheme.
The 25-year-old, who scored his first Formula 1 victories last year, is entering his seventh season in grand prix racing. “Having spent my whole Formula 1 career with McLaren, it felt great to be part of winning the championship with the team, and everyone’s hunger for success remains strong,” he added. “I’m now hoping to take the momentum gained across the last two seasons to compete for both championships this year.”
