This session has finished. No further updates will be posted.

Norris is quickest on Friday but the Ferrari drivers aren’t far behind – here’s the report on second practice.

FP2 has finished and Lando Norris is fastest. Report to follow.

Verstappen finds more time after cooling his tyres down. He puts up a 1’26.314 which moves him up to fifth.

Tsunoda does his first lap on softs and it’s a 1’26.980, three tenths of a second off his team mate, down in 15th.

Leclerc moves up to second, he’s on a 1’26.038, two tenths off Norris.

Lance Stroll goes sixth, which is reminiscent of his good showing in practice last week, though it didn’t pay off in qualifying where he went out in Q1.

Hamilton moves up to second with a 1’26.117, but still three tenths of a second behind Norris.

Not a great lap by Verstappen, he’s eight tenths of a second down in eighth place.

Lando Norris threads three purple sector times together and goes top with a 1’25.816 which puts him ahead by almost four tenths of a second.

Leclerc may be quickest but he says “there’s something wrong with the front-left – we need to solve that by tomorrow.”

A decent effort by Piastri but he’s eight hundredths of a second off.

Charles Leclerc flies through the opening sectors and posts a 1’26.202 to go fastest. Hamilton only fifth.

The track temperature has cooled slightly since the session began, to 39C.

A strong lap by Antonelli who beats Russell to go fastest on a 1’26.383.

Sainz will be investigated after the session for rejoining unsafely ahead of Hulkenberg.

Russell goes for the softest. He’s quickest in sector one – but Antonelli is even quicker!

Hamilton, meanwhile, has returned to the top the times by a hundredth of a second, Leclerc then finds another hundredth to go fastest.

Sainz has been noted for rejoining unsafely.

Isack Hadjar moves up to second but there’s a yellow flag now for Sainz who gives Hulkenberg a fight as he rejoins. He nearly hit Hamilton when he spun.

Tsunoda improves his time to a 1’24.402 on mediums which leaves him a second off his team mate for now.

Liam Lawson was very unhappy about being impeded earlier on and the stewards have taken a look at an incident between him and Oliver Bearman but decided no investigation is needed.

Piastri deposes Hamilton from the top spot by just under a tenth of a second.

Max Verstappen goes quickest in the first sector but crosses the line five hundredths of a second slower than Hamilton.

Ferraris are running one-two to begin with, Lewis Hamilton ahead as he was in the first session.

The track temperature is 41C and air temperature 23C which is only slightly warmer than in the first session earlier today.

Aston Martin ran an upgrade on Fernando Alonso’s car in the first practice session. Both drivers will run the new parts in this session.

The second practice session is go at Silverstone. Yuki Tsunoda and Nico Hulkenberg are back in their usual cars after missing the first hour of running.

Second practice for the 2025 British Grand Prix is coming up next.
