Airtel Payments Bank, in partnership with NPCI Bharat BillPay Limited (NBBL), has enabled EV wallet recharges on the Bharat Connect (BBPS) platform through the Airtel Thanks app, aiming to simplify digital payments for electric vehicle users.Until now, EV owners typically relied on wallets issued by individual charging point operators (CPOs) to pay for charging services. With the introduction of the EV Recharge category, users can now top up their EV wallets directly through the Airtel Thanks app, offering a more seamless, instant and interoperable payment experience.Customers can access the feature by logging into the Airtel Thanks app, selecting ‘Recharge EV’ under the Pay Bills section, entering their registered mobile number and recharge amount, and completing the payment securely via Bharat Connect-enabled apps. The recharge amount is reflected instantly in the EV wallet. The facility is available to all Airtel Thanks app users.Ganesh Ananthanarayanan, Executive Director – Business Operations, Airtel Payments Bank, said the initiative aims to enhance everyday digital payment experiences while supporting the growth of India’s EV ecosystem. He added that the new feature offers users a secure and convenient way to manage EV charging payments.Airtel Payments Bank said the move aligns with its focus on building digital-first banking solutions and contributing to the government’s Digital India and financial inclusion objectives, supported by its nationwide network of over 5 lakh active banking points.
