Tata Motors reported a 6.1% YoY drop in total vehicle sales for April 2025, with domestic sales down 7% and passenger vehicle sales, including EVs, falling 5%.

Tata Motors shares will be in focus on Friday after the company reported a 6.1per cent year-on-year (YoY) decline in total vehicle sales to 72,753 units in April 2025, compared to 77,521 units in the same month last year.Total domestic sales fell 7per cent to 70,963 units last month, down from 76,399 units in April 2024, Tata Motors said in an exchange filing on Thursday.

Total passenger vehicle (PV) sales, including electric vehicles (EVs), declined 5per cent to 45,532 units from 47,983 units in the year-ago period. Domestic PV sales, including EVs, were down 6per cent to 45,199 units from 47,883 units in April last year.

Commercial vehicle (CV) sales stood at 27,221 units in April 2025, down 8per cent from 29,538 units in the same month last year. Domestic CV sales dropped 10per cent to 25,764 units, dragged by a 23per cent decline in the Small Commercial Vehicle (SCV) and pickup segment. The Heavy Commercial Vehicle (HCV) truck segment also registered an 8per cent YoY decline.However, the international CV business (CV IB) offered some support, rising 43per cent YoY to 1,457 units, reflecting improving export demand, the company said.

According to Trendlyne, the average target price for Tata Motors shares is ₹812, indicating a 26per cent upside from current levels. Out of 30 analysts tracking the stock, the consensus recommendation is a ‘Buy’.

On Wednesday, Tata Motors shares closed at ₹644 on the BSE, down 3.2per cent , while the benchmark Sensex slipped 0.06per cent . The stock has declined 14per cent year-to-date and 36per cent over the past year. The company’s market capitalization stands at ₹2.37 lakh crore.
