PLANO, Texas (April 7, 2026) – The Toyota Land Cruiser enters the 2027 model year with enhancements that further elevate its signature balance of rugged capability and refined luxury. New for 2027, available features include a High Mounted Air Intake and Heated and Ventilated Second-Row Outboard Seats. A new exterior color, Inked, has joined this year’s palette. The 2027 Land Cruiser is expected to arrive at dealerships in Spring 2026, with a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) starting at $57,880.
Performance
Both Land Cruisers are equipped exclusively by the turbocharged i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain and a full-time four-wheel drive system. This performance hybrid powertrain generates 326 net combined horsepower and 465 lb.-ft. of torque.
The i-FORCE MAX system pairs a turbocharged engine with an electric motor positioned in the bell housing between the engine and the 8-speed automatic transmission, helping deliver responsive performance along with improved efficiency. Developed with durability and heavy-duty use in mind, the powertrain has an EPA-estimated 23 MPG combined fuel economy rating.
Off-Road Features
Land Cruiser’s off-road credentials remain a defining part of its identity, rooted in a long-standing go-anywhere legacy. That capability is reinforced with standard center and rear locking differentials across both trims. An electronically locking rear differential helps distribute power evenly to the rear wheels to improve traction and reduce wheel spin in demanding conditions.
For added confidence on uneven terrain, the available front Stabilizer Disconnect Mechanism (SDM) increases suspension articulation at the push of a button, helping the front tires maintain contact with the ground. Multi-Terrain Select is operable in both 4WD High and 4WD Low and provides terrain-specific modes for Mud, Dirt and Sand.
Standard CRAWL Control functions as a low-speed off-road cruise control with five selectable speeds, and Downhill Assist Control helps regulate speed on steep descents. Additional traction technologies include Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and an automatic limited-slip differential (Auto LSD).
On more technical trails, the available Multi-Terrain Monitor (MTM), part of the Panoramic View Monitor (PVM) system, uses multiple cameras to display the area around the vehicle on the touchscreen, helping drivers spot obstacles that may be out of view.
Frame Design
The 2027 Land Cruiser rides on Toyota’s TNGA-F global truck platform, shared with Tundra, Sequoia, Tacoma and 4Runner. Advanced manufacturing techniques, including laser blank welding, help reduce weight, where possible, while strengthening key areas for added rigidity, resulting in a high-strength, boxed frame engineered for demanding terrain. Paired with the i-FORCE MAX powertrain, the Land Cruiser offers a maximum towing capacity of 6,000 pounds.
Premium Feel, Even on the Trail
As Toyota’s original SUV, Land Cruiser blends its storied off-road capability with modern technology and elevated comfort. The TNGA-F platform contributes to the vehicle’s strength while also supporting a more composed ride and confident on-road dynamics. Available power front seats with heating and ventilation, along with reclining rear seats, help keep occupants comfortable on longer drives.
An 8-inch multimedia touchscreen is standard and a 12.3-inch touchscreen is available, both featuring Toyota Audio Multimedia, developed by Toyota’s Texas-based Connected Technologies team. The system supports wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ and an available 14-speaker JBL® premium audio system. Available convenience features include Qi® wireless charging with enhanced power output, multiple USB-C ports, and a 2400-watt AC inverter in the cargo area. An available 12.3-inch color digital gauge cluster adds customizable layouts and widgets.
Simple Grade Strategy
Land Cruiser is offered in two grades: Land Cruiser 1958 and Land Cruiser.
The 1958 grade nods to Land Cruiser heritage with retro-inspired round LED headlamps, heated fabric-trimmed seats and the signature “TOYOTA” heritage grille. Along with its classic look, it brings a strong list of standard tech and convenience features, including Smart Key System, Blind Spot Monitor (BSM), a 7-inch color digital gauge cluster, automatic climate control, five USB-C ports, an 8-inch multimedia touchscreen, 6-speaker audio and wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto® compatibility. Standard off-road equipment includes locking center and rear differentials, rear coil springs, full-time 4WD with a two-speed transfer case, CRAWL Control, a 2400W AC inverter and a trailer brake controller.
The Land Cruiser grade adds additional comfort, technology and trail capability, including rectangular LED headlamps, power heated and ventilated SofTex®-trimmed front seats, a Qi-compatible wireless smartphone charger, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, power liftgate, 12.3-inch touchscreen and a 10-speaker audio system. For off-highway driving, it also includes Rigid® color-selectable LED fog lights, Multi-Terrain Select and Multi-Terrain Monitor.
Available on the Land Cruiser grade, the Premium Package upgrades to leather-trimmed heated and ventilated power front and second row seats with driver seat lumbar support and memory, a 14-speaker JBL® premium audio system, digital rearview mirror, Head-up Display (HUD), illuminated entry and a power moonroof.
For 2027, Land Cruiser is offered in seven exterior colors: Ice Cap, Wind Chill Pearl, Underground, Inked, Meteor Shower, Trail Dust and Heritage Blue. Two-tone Trail Dust and Heritage Blue models feature a Grayscape roof.
Heritage Design
Land Cruiser’s exterior design reflects its heritage with upright, boxy proportions, a flat roofline, short overhangs and signature “TOYOTA” grilles. Toyota’s North American CALTY Design Research studio worked in close collaboration with the global team on a look guided by authenticity, reliability, timelessness and professionalism. The 1958 grade wears classic round LED headlamps and the heritage grille, while the Land Cruiser grade features slim rectangular headlamps that echo the 60 series. A squared-off profile and a repositioned A-pillar help improve outward visibility when navigating trails.
Contemporary elements include all-LED lighting, available 20-inch wheels, a silhouette-style roof rack and available color-selectable Rigid® fog lights.
The Iconic Off-Roader
The Land Cruiser rounds out Toyota’s rugged body-on-frame lineup, giving customers another versatile option for adventure-focused lifestyles. Engineered to handle demanding conditions, it’s designed to help owners confidently seek out new destinations and off-the-beaten-path experiences.
Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 Standard
Both 2027 Land Cruiser models come standard with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, Toyota’s suite of active safety and convenience systems. This suite of features includes:
- Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection
- Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist
- Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
- Lane Tracing Assist
- Road Sign Assist
- Automatic High Beams
- Proactive Driving Assist
Including the addition of Proactive Driving Assist, the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 features include:
- The Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection in addition to pedestrian and bicyclist detection, this system now includes the capability to detect a motorcyclist.
- Lane Departure Alert provides Steering Assist as well as lane recognition that includes detection of certain 3D objects, like guardrails, that may be used to help define the lane.
- Dynamic Radar Cruise Control will have Full-Speed Range capability and adds a fourth following distance setting, from the previously available three. Vehicle detection allows for the ability to detect more than one preceding vehicle, as well as vehicles in adjacent lanes. This helps the system to provide smoother, more natural speed adjustments, especially when the driver changes lanes.
- Lane Tracing Assist requires Dynamic Radar Cruise Control to be enabled for it to function. The system requires detectable lane markings in order to function. In addition to lane centering, this system also helps provide more space between vehicles being passed in adjacent lanes. It works by offsetting the vehicles’ driving path with minor steering adjustments while keeping the vehicle within its lane.
- An Emergency Driving Stop System is a new function of Lane Tracing Assist. It’s designed to monitor the driver’s inputs, such as steering operation, to determine if they’re inattentive or non-responsive, such as during a medical emergency. This feature is designed to bring the vehicle to a stop if the driver doesn’t respond to alerts to take control.
- Road Sign Assist is designed to detect speed limit signs, stop signs, Do Not Enter signs, yield signs, and certain warning signs, and display an icon of the sign on the Multi-Information Display (MID).
In addition to TSS 3.0, there are available features, such as Blind Spot Monitor (BSM), which is designed to help detect and warn you of vehicles approaching or positioned in the adjacent lanes, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA) for added peace of mind by helping to detect vehicles approaching from either side while backing out and alerting you with a visual and audible warning. Hill Start Assist Control (HAC) also comes standard. The 2027 Land Cruiser includes 5-year Connected Services trials for Safety Connect*, Service Connect*, and Remote Connect* and a 30 day/3 GB Wi-Fi Connect* trial, with additional services available depending on grade, such as Drive Connect*.
