Cosmo Consumer, the consumer-facing business of Cosmo First, has entered the automotive ceramic coating segment with the launch of Cosmo Guard, a nano-ceramic coating solution for vehicle surface protection.
The company said the move marks an expansion of its automotive protection portfolio, which includes paint protection films and window films.
Cosmo Guard has been developed using the company’s work in specialty chemicals, substrate science and coating formulation. The range also includes rubbing and polishing compounds designed for surface preparation prior to coating application. These compounds use sub-micron abrasive technology to deliver consistent cutting performance. The company said the system maintains uniform particle size, reducing the risk of surface damage and enabling a finish suitable for coating.
Focus on surface protection and durability
The ceramic coating uses Silicon Dioxide (SiO₂) as a resin to form bonds with the vehicle surface. This is intended to improve scratch resistance, protect against swirl marks and maintain the underlying paint.
The coating also offers hydrophobic properties, with a water contact angle of up to 100 degrees, resulting in a self-cleaning effect.
According to the company, the product protects surfaces from fuel spills, ultraviolet radiation and thermal stress. It is designed to withstand surface temperatures between 70°C and 100°C.
Laboratory testing has been conducted on parameters including scratch resistance, weatherability, hydrophobicity and resistance to fuel exposure.
The polishing compound is silicone-free and does not contain waxes or fillers, making it suitable for use in paint environments.
Cosmo Guard offers durability of two to five years, the company said.
“The introduction of Cosmo Guard is a natural extension of our capabilities in specialty chemicals and automotive surface protection. As demand for vehicle care solutions grows, Cosmo Guard enables us to offer customers a ceramic coating that delivers durability and long-term value,” said Abhineesh Das, Business Head, Cosmo Consumer.
The company said it plans to introduce additional variants, including graphene-based and self-healing coatings, as part of its automotive care portfolio.
