VinFast, a Vietnam-based automotive firm, on Monday announced an extension of its free charging programme for electric vehicle (EV) owners in India, Indonesia and the Philippines until March 31, 2029, as it seeks to accelerate EV adoption across key Asian markets.

Under the policy, all VinFast EV owners in these markets will be able to charge their vehicles free of cost at the charging network developed and operated by V-Green. The benefit will be available to both existing customers and future buyers, including private vehicle owners as well as drivers using their vehicles for commercial mobility services.

The programme will also cover drivers operating on the Green SM ride-hailing service, which uses VinFast electric vehicles. The company said the initiative aims to significantly reduce the cost of ownership for EV users and encourage consumers to shift away from conventional gasoline-powered vehicles.

Trade Gas for Electric

Separately, VinFast’s parent company Vingroup has introduced the ‘Trade Gas for Electric’ programme in India, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam. The initiative offers a 3 per cent discount on VinFast electric cars and a 5 per cent discount on electric scooters for customers switching from gasoline-powered vehicles.

The limited-period scheme will run from March 11 to March 31, 2026, and can be combined with other incentives available in each market.

In addition, users of Green SM electric taxi services in Indonesia, Laos and Vietnam will receive a 10 per cent discount under the “GreenForAll” programme during the same period.

“Extending this policy for another three years is the next step in our strategy to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles. VinFast believes that when operating costs are optimized to nearly zero, consumers will have greater confidence and motivation to switch to green mobility, while also contributing to the greening of transportation systems in these countries,” said Duong Thi Thu Trang, Deputy CEO of Global Sales, VinFast.

The company added that the charging infrastructure operated by V-Green is being rapidly expanded across markets where VinFast operates, alongside other initiatives such as battery subscription programmes, resale value guarantees, flexible payment options and extended warranty coverage, as part of its strategy to build a comprehensive EV ecosystem.
