DGT, Bajaj Auto sign pact to train youth in advanced automotive manufacturing

The Directorate General of Training (DGT) has signed a Flexible Memorandum of Understanding (Flexi-MoU) with Bajaj Auto Ltd. on Friday to provide industry-integrated training programmes, focused on advanced automotive manufacturing systems.Under the partnership, Bajaj Auto will conduct training at its manufacturing facilities in Maharashtra and Uttarakhand. Bajaj also proposed to enrol 1,000 trainees in the first year, with structured training programmes of up to 24 months.

The initiative comes under the Flexi-MoU Scheme implemented by DGT under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, which allows industries to design customised training programmes aligned with emerging technologies and sectoral demands while maintaining alignment
with the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF).

Under the scheme, there is a minimum annual training capacity of 100 trainees, with industry-led practical assessments and DGT-conducted computer-based theory exams. Successful candidates will receive a National Trade Certificate (NTC), making them eligible for apprenticeship opportunities.

“It helps young people gain practical experience and become truly job-ready. Such collaborationsplay a vital role in building a strong pipeline of skilled talent for the country,” said Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

As per the scheme guidelines, industry partners are required to ensure placement of at least 50 per cent of trained candidates.The agreement between DGT and Bajaj Auto will remain valid for 10 years and may be extended based on performance indicators such as enrolment, learning outcomes and placements.
