Tata Motors registered a stellar set of numbers in September, with total domestic passenger vehicle (PV) sales surging 45 per cent to 59,667 units, compared to 41,063 units in September 2024. Total PV sales, which include the international business segment, also registered a whopping 47 per cent increase over last September, clocking 60,907 units.Total commercial vehicle (CV) sales stood at 35,862 units, registering a 19 per cent year-on-year jump. Small Commercial Vehicles (SCVs) and Pickups led this rally, growing 30 per cent, buoyed by demand for new models like Ace Pro and Ace Gold. Domestic CV sales also rose to 33,148 units, up 16 per cent over last September.“September 2025 emerged as a watershed month with sales of 60,907 units—our highest ever, marking a substantial 47 per cent year-on-year growth. This milestone was complimented by record-breaking performances across our green fuel portfolio,” said Shailesh Chandra, , Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles. The Nexon set an all-time monthly high by surpassing 22,500 units sold, while electric vehicle sales almost doubled to 9,191 units demonstrating a 96 per cent increase. CNG vehicles also achieved record popularity, exceeding 17,800 units sold in September.

“With the festive season underway, improving consumption, and the full impact of GST reforms yet to unfold, we anticipate a strong second half for FY26. Construction, infrastructure, and mining activities will gain momentum, further fueling demand for trucks and tippers. With a robust pipeline of upcoming launches, and a richer, more customer-aligned product portfolio, we are well-positioned to accelerate this momentum and drive meaningful, broad-based growth across all commercial vehicles segments,” said Girish Wagh, Executive Director, Tata Motors.

Strong Q2FY26 Performance

For the broader quarter (Q2 FY26), Tata Motors recorded total CV sales of 94,681 units—a 12 per cent year-on-year growth and total PV sales of 144,397 units, registering a robust 10 per cent increase.

The company anticipates this momentum to continue into the second half of the financial year, fueled by festive demand, ongoing GST reforms, and ready product availability.

Effective October 1, 2025, the company has demerged its CVs business into a new entity, TML Commercial Vehicles Limited (TMLCV), while consolidating its PVs business within the parent company.
