Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Presidency University, Bengaluru, to introduce a Master of Technology programme in Automotive Information Technology. The programme will begin with an intake of 18 students and include internship opportunities at Toyota’s global operations.The course has been designed in response to the increasing role of software and IT in the automotive sector. According to TKM, the shift towards software-defined vehicles and connected mobility requires engineers who combine knowledge of automotive systems with digital capabilities.G. Shankara, Executive Vice President, Finance and Administration at TKM, said, “At TKM, we recognise the urgent need to develop a new generation of engineers who are as adept in IT as they are in automotive systems. With Presidency University, we aim to meet our organisational talent requirements and contribute to India’s emergence as a global hub for automotive IT expertise.”

Programme structure and facilities

The four-semester programme will combine classroom learning with practical exposure. Presidency University will provide infrastructure and manage laboratories, while TKM will support with the setup and contribute to curriculum design. Both institutions will co-develop modules aligned with global standards in areas such as automotive engineering, sustainability, manufacturing technology, and automotive business management.Chancellor of Presidency University, Dr Nissar Ahamed, said, “This collaboration aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry needs. By working closely with Toyota Kirloskar Motor, our students will gain hands-on experience with technologies shaping the future of mobility. We are confident that this initiative will empower our students to lead in a rapidly transforming industry landscape.”The programme will start with 18 seats, with scope to increase based on demand.
