Germany’s legacy automakers are in comeback mode. Audi’s Q6 E-tron is the best electric Audi we’ve driven. BMW just revealed an impressive iX3 that’s ready to take on the wave of Chinese EVs flooding Europe. And now all eyes are on Mercedes-Benz.
On Friday, the automaker teased the interior of the upcoming GLC with EQ Technology, packed with glitzy accents and—as an option—the carmaker’s biggest screen ever. 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLC With EQ Technology Hyperscreen. Photo by: Mercedes-Benz
The “with EQ Technology” branding may be clunky, this Benz’s interior looks refined as ever. Our first peek inside the electric GLC reveals a design that blends Tesla-like tech with classy Mercedes designs of the recent past. I was never a fan of the dashboard-wide MBUX Hyperscreen found in some of the company’s current cars. But the new 39.1-inch pillar-to-pillar display feels like a more elegant evolution.
On current EQ models, the Hyperscreen has a funky shape and is split into three separate displays that are integrated into a glossy black panel. In the new GLC, it’s a seamless full-width display with matrix backlighting and 1,000 individually controlled LEDs. Mercedes says the system introduces a patented “intelligent zone dimming” feature.
It seems like the automotive screen wars are still in full swing. In the iX3, BMW debuted a slim wall-to-wall “Panoramic” screen just below the windshield. On top of that, the SUV also has a main infotainment screen shaped like a parallelogram. Gallery: 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLC With EQ Technology Interior Teasers
The GLC was Mercedes’ best-selling model last year, but its electric counterpart, the EQC SUV, never made it to the U.S. This time, Mercedes is sticking with familiar nameplates as it moves its EVs into the next generation. We drove a prototype electric GLC back in June and came away impressed, though it was heavily camouflaged inside and out.
Elsewhere, the turbine-style vents are integrated into the screen, while the door panels have a mix of brushed aluminum and high-quality stitched leather, just the kind of upscale materials you’d expect from Mercedes. The result is an tech-forward interior that’s less in-your-face than what we’ve seen on the brand’s other EVs.
The Christmas fest continues on the outside. Mercedes has already previewed the grille, which packs 942 illuminated pixels that are capable of animations. The rest of the details are still under wraps, but we’ll know more soon. The full reveal of the GLC with EQ Technology is set for this weekend at the IAA Mobility show in Munich, where InsideEVs will be on the floor. So stay tuned for more updates.
