Toyota teamed up with a group of Purdue students to support the university’s first all-female team in the Electric Vehicle Grand Prix — and they won.

Team “Lady Elizabeth” captured the spotlight earlier this year by winning the 14th annual evGrand Prix Collegiate Championship — an electric vehicle spin-off of the traditional Purdue Grand Prix. Unlike traditional races, this competition features electric go-karts designed and engineered by college students across the country.

Racing against nearly 20 electric go-karts, “Lady Elizabeth” stood out in a field of teams evaluated on three key areas: vehicle design, energy efficiency and final race placement.

Toyota not only sponsored the winning team, but also provided hands-on support throughout the competition. This included helping construct the go-kart and offering valuable professional development and networking opportunities.
