• 75 years ago today Juan Manuel Fangio passed Alfa Romeo team mate Louis Rosier to win the non-championship Pescara Grand Prix on the enormous, 25.7km track. Ferrari and Maserati did not participate
• 60 years ago today Jo Siffert won the non-championship Mediterranean Grand Prix for Brabham on the high-speed Enna-Pergusa track by just three tenths of a second from Jim Clark’s Lotus
