You Can Now Charge Your EV At Over 200 Pilot And Flying J Gas Stations

  • General Motors, EVgo and Pilot Company’s charging network now covers nearly 40 states.
  • Over 200 charging stations can be found at Pilot and Flying J travel centers located alongside interstate travel corridors.
  • The EVgo DC fast chargers can provide up to 350 kW of power.

Charging an electric car during a long road trip can be a bit of a chore, especially if the charging location is in the middle of nowhere and doesn’t have any amenities. But that’s slowly changing in the United States, thanks in part to the collaboration between General Motors, EVgo and Pilot Company.

Together, the three companies have installed roughly 850 DC fast charging stalls at over 200 Pilot and Flying J travel centers across nearly 40 states in the last two years. That’s a significant uptick compared to this spring, when a little over 130 locations in more than 25 states were operational.

Getting back to the sometimes miserable charging experience while on the go, the DC fast chargers installed by GM and EVgo at Pilot and Flying J gas stations should make things a lot better. First off, they’re located along major interstate travel corridors, with well-lit bays, access to free Wi-Fi, on-site restaurants and groceries. What’s more, many charging stations also have canopies, which can make a big difference if it’s scorching hot outside or snowing. Pull-through stalls, which are perfect for EVs with trailers, are also present at many stations.

The chargers themselves are 350-kilowatt stalls from EVgo, which offer two charging cords. If there’s a single EV charging, the full power can go to it; if two EVs are charging simultaneously, the power is split between them. Plug-and-Charge, which allows drivers simply plug in and start a charging session (if the necessary setup was done beforehand), is also supported for compatible vehicles.

The newest states to join the three companies’ DC fast charging blitz include Colorado, South Carolina, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming. Meanwhile, Texas, Missouri and Florida benefited from a significant expansion. You can check out Pilot Company’s charging map here.

“Hitting the open road is a natural emblem of American culture, and traveling by car means drivers can set their own schedule to stop and charge when and where they want,” said Badar Khan, CEO of EVgo. “Our EVgo eXtend network, built in collaboration with Pilot and GM, is delivering reliable charging to communities large and small — ensuring freedom of fueling choice for every driver.”

The three companies announced their partnership in 2022. The first stations went online at the end of 2023, but things progressed quickly, and in March 2025, there were already over 130 charging stations in more than 25 states. The collaboration is now nearly halfway its goal of building a total of up to 2,000 fast charging stalls at up to 500 Pilot and Flying Jay locations in the U.S. By the end of this year, the companies believe they’ll reach 1,000 stalls across 40 states.
