Volvo Car India on Monday announced the expansion of its sustainability-led Reverse Project with the launch of a new plantation initiative at Matri Van along the Gurugram–Faridabad Highway in Haryana.

As part of its CSR initiative for FY26, the company will support the plantation of over 20,000 native trees across 20 acres of land in the Aravalli range under the Community Barren Land Transformation Project. The initiative is being implemented by SankalpTaru Foundation in partnership with the Haryana Forest Department.

The move builds on Volvo Car India’s earlier efforts under the Reverse Project. Last year, the automaker converted an urban dump yard in Ghaziabad into a green forest by planting more than 35,000 trees. The latest phase focuses on restoring degraded land in Gurugram using climate-resilient native species.

Under the programme, individuals supporting the initiative will be allocated two to three geo-tagged saplings planted on their behalf. Participants can register through Volvo Car India’s dedicated Reverse Project platform.

Jyoti Malhotra, managing director, Volvo Car India, said sustainability remains central to the company’s purpose. He said the Matri Van plantation reflects Volvo’s long-term commitment to environmental responsibility, community engagement and India’s climate goals.Apurva Bhandari, founder, SankalpTaru Foundation, said Volvo Car India’s support would strengthen efforts to restore the Aravallis through technology-enabled and biodiversity-rich plantation initiatives, including geo-tagging, IoT-based monitoring and community participation.
