New Delhi: Vinkesh Gulati, the current Chairperson of the Automotive Skills Development Council, has joined the Bharat Association of Road Safety Volunteers (BARS) as a founding member and will serve as Vice-Chairperson and President – Corporate Affairs.

Gulati, who has also served as the President of FADA for 2020-2022 term, said road safety must evolve beyond policy discussions into a national movement anchored in collective responsibility and sustained collaboration.

Announcing his association with BARS, Gulati emphasised that road safety in India requires accountability, stronger governance mechanisms and active public participation. He described the initiative as a people-centric platform designed to unite volunteers, industry leaders, policymakers, civil society organisations and community stakeholders under a common framework.BARS has been conceived as a collaborative forum to reduce fragmentation in road safety efforts and accelerate measurable outcomes. The organisation aims to strengthen coordination across stakeholders by promoting transparency, collaboration and accountability — its three core pillars.

“Road safety in India must evolve into a mass movement. It is not just about enforcement or infrastructure—it is about shared responsibility,” Gulati said, adding that BARS seeks to build a transparent ecosystem capable of delivering measurable impact.

India continues to face significant challenges related to road accidents and fatalities, with experts frequently calling for multi-sectoral interventions combining infrastructure upgrades, enforcement, technology adoption and behavioural change.
