TVS Supply Chain sets up warehouse near Chennai to support Caterpillar’s global logistics

TVS Supply Chain Solutions Ltd on Tuesday said it has set up a 40,000 sq ft warehousing facility at the Free Trade and Warehousing Zone (FTWZ) in Mannur village, near Chennai, to strengthen Caterpillar‘s global supply chain operations.The facility, located about 30 km from Chennai, will enable parts procurement from multiple countries and support Caterpillar’s manufacturing operations by improving logistics efficiency and supply chain flexibility.Strategically located along the Chennai–Bengaluru Industrial Corridor, the FTWZ warehouse offers connectivity to key ports including Chennai Port, Ennore Port and Kamarajar Port, which together handle nearly 20 per cent of India’s container traffic.The warehouse has around 4,000 pallet positions and is designed to help Caterpillar optimise lead times, reduce landed costs and respond more effectively to fluctuations in global demand and supply.

Ravi Viswanathan, Managing Director of TVS Supply Chain Solutions, said the facility combines the FTWZ model with the company’s end-to-end warehousing capabilities to enable faster and more efficient global supply chain movements.

Ramesh Muthuraman, Director of Operations at Caterpillar India Private Limited, said the facility enhances the company’s sourcing flexibility and strengthens its global supply chain network.

The companies said the new facility aligns with the ‘Make in India for the World’ strategy and strengthens Caterpillar’s India operations as a scalable and resilient base within its global supply chain network.
