PLANO, Texas (Jan. 28, 2026) — Toyota is conducting a safety recall involving certain model year 2023-2026 Prius vehicles. Approximately 142,000 vehicles are involved in this recall in the U.S.

There is a possibility that certain circumstances can cause water to enter the electric door switches on the rear doors of the subject vehicles and cause a switch to activate. If this occurs while the rear doors are unlocked, a rear door can open while driving, leading to an increased risk of injury to occupants.

For all involved vehicles, Toyota dealers will modify the left and right rear door switch circuits to prevent the switch from activating, even if it is shorted, free of charge. Owners of involved vehicles will be notified by late-March 2026.

Information about automotive recalls, including but not limited to the list of involved vehicles, is current as of today’s filing date and is subject to change thereafter. To see if your vehicle is involved in a safety recall visit Toyota.com/recall or nhtsa.gov/recalls and enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or license plate information.

For any additional questions, Toyota customer support is also available by calling the Toyota Brand Engagement Center (1-800-331-4331).
