These Pre-2026 EVs Are Still Filling Dealer Lots, So Expect Big Price Cuts

  • Many luxury EVs are about to get significantly cheaper as we step into 2026.
  • That’s because dealers still have a lot of leftover inventory for 2025 and even 2024 models.
  • As time passes, dealers will want them gone sooner rather than later.

Even with the generous $7,500 federal incentive for EVs out the window, there is good news on the horizon for car buyers interested in going electric. Going into 2026, plenty of dealers have leftover inventory from this year and even last year. And if you know dealers, you know that they’ll want these cars out the door sooner rather than later, which means there are some good deals to be had.

To help guide your hunt for deals, iSeeCars tallied up the vehicles with the most inventory from the 2024 and 2025 model years in a new study.

The highest discounts will likely be applied to 2024 models, which have had plenty of time to depreciate, despite still being brand-new cars. According to iSeeCars, the Genesis GV60 crossover tops the list of EVs with the most leftover 2024 inventory in the U.S. Next up is the Dodge Charger, with 20.9% of dealer inventory made up of 2024 models. The Chevrolet Silverado EV and GMC Hummer EV SUV round out the list.

As many automakers have moved on to the 2026 and even 2027 models, these 2024 EVs could enable customers to score a great deal.

“The $7,500 electric vehicle incentive was in place for most of the past two years, but it wasn’t compelling enough to find buyers for these 2024 models,” said Karl Brauer, iSeeCars executive analyst. “This is an opportunity for EV buyers to negotiate.”

New EVs with the most leftover 2024 inventory

Rank Model % 2024 Inventory
1 Genesis GV60 21.8%
2 Dodge Charger 20.9%
3 Chevrolet Silverado EV 11.9%
4 GMC Hummer EV SUV 5.5%
  2024 EV Average 1.3%

If a newer EV has more appeal—and why wouldn’t it?—you should know that the list of leftover 2025 models is much longer. Discounts for these cars are likely to be lower than for 2024 models, but dealers will still try to make room for the latest and greatest. So if you see something you like, push for more discounts.

The BMW i4 tops the list of leftover 2025 inventory, with dealers’ lots still filled to the brim with it. The more expensive Porsche Macan is second, with 67.8% of inventory made up of leftovers, followed by the Volkswagen ID.4. But the list goes on and includes names like the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV, which is on hold in the United States, the Honda Prologue, Cadillac Lyriq and Cadillac Escalade IQ.

“With the federal EV incentive gone, dealers have to be even more flexible on their electric vehicle pricing. This is particularly true for EVs that have a high percentage of 2025 model year inventory even as January 1, 2026, looms,” said Brauer.

New EVs with the most leftover 2025 inventory

Rank Model % 2025 inventory
1 BMW i4 89.2%
2 Porsche Macan 67.8%
3 Volkswagen ID.4 59.1%
4 Cadillac Escalade IQ 47.8%
5 Genesis Electrified GV70 37.2%
6 Genesis GV60 35.3%
7 Honda Prologue 34.1%
8 Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV 30.9%
9 Cadillac Lyriq 30.6%
10 GMC Hummer EV 30.2%
  2025 EV average 18.7%

A discontinued model could bring an even bigger price cut. Cars like the Audi Q8 E-Tron, Mercedes-Benz EQB and Polestar 2 are no longer being offered as new cars in the U.S., so dealers might be inclined to sacrifice more to get rid of them.

“The colder weather and holiday distractions generally make the end of the year a good time to buy a car,” said Brauer. “Combine those factors with leftover new 2024 or 2025 models that dealers can’t seem to unload, and a deal-making opportunity is likely for buyers looking to take advantage of ‘leftover’ or ‘discontinued’ status.”
