Aggarwal said that he would meet the MC commissioner and mayor and seek answers from them.

Former councillor from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Inder Aggarwal, raised concerns about the sanctioning of tenders to a contractor in ward number 57 for construction of roads at 45% less than the estimated cost, which is Rs 56.74 lakh.

The work was allotted at Rs 30.88 lakh. He said that the quality of road work would be compromised and claimed that this was not an isolated incident. He also said that he would raise the issue with authorities.

The former councillor questioned that when officials estimated that roads in any area would be constructed for Rs 56.74 lakh, how could a contractor manage to do it for Rs 30.88 lakh. He questioned whether officials intentionally set the estimates high so that contractors could file tenders accordingly, or if the contractor is still able to earn from this tender even after quoting such a low price. He claimed that officials needed to ensure that the contractor did not compromise on the quality of materials used in road work, which is the reason for damage to roads. Aggarwal said that he would meet the MC commissioner and mayor and seek answers from them.
