The Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d’Automobiles (OICA), the global federation of motor vehicle manufacturers, has elected Shailesh Chandra, President of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), as its new President effective November 1, 2025.

He succeeds John Bozzella, President and CEO of the Alliance for Automotive Innovation, USA.

Chandra becomes the first Indian to lead OICA, marking a milestone for India’s growing influence in the global automotive landscape. “It is an honour to become the first OICA President from India, which highlights the organisation’s global representation,” said Chandra. Chandra serves as Managing Director and CEO of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, where he has played a pivotal role in the turnaround of Tata’s passenger vehicle business and in advancing India’s electric mobility ecosystem.Alongside Chandra’s appointment, Hildegard Müller, President of Germany’s Verband der Automobilindustrie, has been named Vice-President of OICA.

Founded in 1919, OICA represents 36 national associations of motor vehicle manufacturers, promoting harmonised global vehicle regulations, sustainable mobility, and international cooperation across the automotive industry.
