Chennai has added five new hubs across locations including Pallavaram, Maduravoyal and Ambattur, aimed at strengthening both intra-city and intercity charging infrastructure.

Tata Passenger Electric Mobility (TATA.ev) has partnered with Shell India Markets to launch 21 new TATA.ev x Shell Mega Charging Hubs across Bengaluru, Chennai, Mysuru, Pune and Vadodara, expanding its public EV charging footprint. The new hubs are equipped with 120 kW DC fast chargers and are positioned across key urban centres and intercity corridors. With this addition, the TATA.ev Mega Charging Hub network now spans over 130 operational sites across India. The company said the expansion is part of its ‘Open Collaboration 2.0’ framework, under which it is partnering with charge point operators to build high-speed charging corridors across cities and highways. TATA.ev has outlined plans to introduce over 400,000 charging points, including 500 Mega Charging Hubs, by 2027.

Focus on key corridors

In Bengaluru, nine new hubs have been added, taking the total number of TATA.ev Mega Charging Hubs in the city to 13 — the highest among Indian cities. Additional hubs have been commissioned in Mysuru along the Mangalore–Mysuru highway, across multiple urban locations in Pune, and on the Ahmedabad–Mumbai highway (NH 48) at Vadodara.

The hubs offer a minimum charging capacity of 120 kW, along with on-ground support staff. TATA.ev customers are eligible for up to 25 per cent discount on charging tariffs at these locations.
