State govt is finalising a renewable energy policy that will set specific targets for each technology, including planned capacity addition, funding strategy, timelines, incentives for adoption and accountability mechanisms to ensure implementation. New and renewable energy minister Ramkrishna Dhavalikar said the policy is currently being finalised.The state has already begun generating around 90MW of solar power through rooftop solar installations, with 3,928 applications received under the rooftop solar scheme. Dhavalikar said govt also plans to install EV charging stations .More than 3,000 citizens purchased electric vehicles under a govt scheme. The new and renewable energy department has moved a file for the extension and re-launch of the EV promotion scheme, which is awaiting govt approval.The state provides subsidies for rooftop solar installations under the “Revised Scheme for Promotion of Grid Connected Solar Rooftop System with Net, Group Net and Virtual Net Metering”.
Under the scheme, govt provides a 50 per cent subsidy to residential consumers, group housing societies, residential welfare associations and educational institutions, and 20 per cent subsidy to commercial consumers,” Dhavalikar said
He added that the central govt provides subsidies of up to ₹78,000 for rooftop solar installations of up to 3KW under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
According to govt data, 156 beneficiaries have availed support under the Rural Village Electrification Programme, 1,113 under the Solar Water Heating System scheme, 1,132 under the rooftop solar scheme for FY 2023–2026, and 3,130 under the re-launched EV promotion scheme.
Chief minister Pramod Sawant in his budget last week announced a ₹10 crore climate change fund to address climate-related issues in rural areas and said govt will encourage 100 per cent biodegradable packaging across industrial sectors.
