SRMIST student team wins national title at Formula Bharat 2026

New Delhi: SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) has emerged as the national champion at Formula Bharat 2026, with its student team Team Camber Racing securing top honours across multiple dynamic and static categories at the competition.

The team delivered a strong all-round performance, finishing first in key events including Endurance, Skidpad, Autocross, Acceleration, Engineering Design, Fuel Economy, and Sustainability and Best Practices. It also won the Best Driver Award, underlining its technical and competitive capabilities.

Led by team captain Himanshu Kumar, a final-year Electronics and Communication Engineering student, the team comprised students from automobile, mechatronics and electronics disciplines, reflecting a multidisciplinary approach to vehicle design and engineering. SRMIST officials said the achievement highlights the growing role of student-led engineering initiatives in shaping future-ready talent for India’s automotive and mobility sectors. Competitions such as Formula Bharat provide a platform for hands-on learning, innovation and collaboration, helping students develop industry-relevant skills in design, manufacturing and performance engineering. The victory reinforces SRMIST’s position as a key contributor to India’s automotive innovation ecosystem, with its students increasingly participating in motorsport, electric mobility ventures and research-driven engineering projects.
