What made hamilton a 7 times world champion is a great car, let’s say 2008 was pretty even, probably ferrari better, and let’s say 2018 the cars were even too, apart from that in 2017 overall the car had better reliability and was more consistently the fastest compared to ferrari, and then 2014, 2015, 2019 and 2020 the car was a rocket, unbeatable, he only really had the beat his team mate: rosberg was a pretty good driver, but for a top driver like hamilton was it wasn’t that insurmuntable task to beat him, and don’t get me started on bottas for 2019 and 2020, an average driver.
So hamilton got these many titles because he had a dominant car for 5 seasons, 2014-2016 + 2019 and 2020, not to mention the overall best car even in the years inbetween and in 2021.
Put another top driver in his place and they would have as many, if not more titles: ascari, fangio, clark, stewart, lauda, prost, just to make some names, and for a more recent one, leclerc (verstappen is way beyond 7 titles in hamilton’s circumstances, more like 10).
