Each station, spread over about 500 sq ft, will feature fast-charging facilities for four-wheelers and accommodate two cars and three two-wheelers simultaneously.

Relux Electric in collaboration with the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC), will establish nine electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across key public locations in Chennai. The initiative forms the first phase of Tamil Nadu’s clean mobility drive, following Relux Electric’s recent partnership with the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TNGECL) to install 500 charging stations statewide.

“Our partnership with GCC and TNGECL is aimed at building public confidence in electric vehicles and supporting Chennai’s goal of reducing carbon emissions and creating a greener city,” said Karthikeyan S, Managing Director of Relux Electric.

The new charging points will be located at Marina Beach, Besant Nagar Beach, Nageswara Rao Park (Mylapore), Bougainvillea Park (Anna Nagar), Semmozhi Poonga (Teynampet), Corporation Playground Parking (T Nagar), Somasundaram Park (T Nagar), Mangal Lake Park (Ambattur), and Ashtalakshmi Temple Parking (Besant Nagar).

Each station, spread over about 500 sq ft, will feature fast-charging facilities for four-wheelers and accommodate two cars and three two-wheelers simultaneously. All stations are expected to be operational by December 2025.

A Greater Chennai Corporation official said the project is aimed at “facilitating easy access to reliable EV charging in public spaces and encouraging the adoption of green transport,” aligning with the city’s focus on cleaner, energy-efficient urban infrastructure.
