The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has released its data for February 2025, highlighting mixed performances across different automotive segments in both domestic and export markets.

According to the report, the total production of passenger vehicles, three-wheelers, two-wheelers, and quadricycles in February 2025 stood at 23,46,258 units.

Rajesh Menon, Director General, SIAM, commented, “The passenger vehicle segment continued its positive momentum, posting its highest-ever February sales in 2025, with 3.78 lakh units, reflecting a growth of 1.9 per cent compared to February 2024. Three-wheelers also performed well, growing by 4.7 per cent, while the two-wheeler segment saw a decline of 9 per cent. Despite this, upcoming festivities such as Holi and Ugadi in March are expected to boost demand, closing FY 2024-25 on a positive note.”

Passenger vehicles

Passenger vehicle dispatches to dealers recorded a year-on-year growth of 1.9 per cent in February, with 3.78 lakh units sold compared to 3.71 lakh units in the same month last year. The data indicates strong sales performance, which aligns with the overall upward trend in the segment.

Three-wheelers

The three-wheeler segment showed a solid growth of 4.7 per cent year-on-year, with 57,788 units sold in February 2025, compared to 55,175 units in February 2024. The segment continues to grow steadily, with demand remaining robust across domestic and export markets.

Two-wheelers

Domestic two-wheeler sales saw a decline of 9 per cent in February 2025, with 13.85 lakh units sold, down from 15.21 lakh units in the same month last year. The downturn in this segment was somewhat expected, but the upcoming festive season is likely to help reverse this trend in the coming months.

Quadricycles

The quadricycle segment faced a sharp drop of 91.7 per cent in domestic sales, with just three units sold in February 2025, compared to 36 units in the same month last year. However, the export performance showed some resilience, despite the challenges faced in the domestic market.
