The official Formula 1 film has finally arrived to great fanfare.

Formula One Management hope the film will prove as successful as its Netflix docuseries Drive to Survive in bringing a new audience of fans to the championship.

The film combines major Hollywood names with the full endorsement of the F1 world. Star actors don’t come much bigger than Brad Pitt and the production team put together the hugely successful Top Gun sequel ‘Maverick’. They enlisted Lewis Hamilton as a co-producer and filmed during actual rounds of the 2023 and 2024 world championship, footage of which is blended into the film.

“F1: The Movie” opened at the end of June and has reportedly been a financial success, already recouping its production costs. But did those who paid to see it like what they saw? And how many of our readers have been persuaded to see it? Share your feedback in this week’s poll.

I say

I gave my verdict on ‘F1: The Movie’ at length in our review published here earlier this month.

Although I wouldn’t describe it as a bad film, I was disappointed by it. There is clear potential in it and there were sections I found genuinely entertaining. But on the whole I felt its depiction of F1 was uninspiring and the plot far too predictable to enjoy.

Any review seeks to ask a simple question: ‘is this product worth buying?’ Did I feel ‘F1: The Movie’ was worth the price of a cinema ticket and over two-and-a-half hours of my time? No.
