In compliance with the directives given by chief minister Yogi Adityanath, National Road Safety Month (Jan 1 to Jan 31) is being observed as Zero Fatality Month. In this regard, the transport department conducted awareness and enforcement activities related to road safety in Kanpur Nagar district on Sunday.

Long-distance vehicle drivers were made aware of operating vehicles only after adequate rest to prevent potential road accidents caused by fatigue and drowsiness from continuous driving. Additionally, in view of dense fog during the winter season, vehicle drivers were made aware of affixing reflector tape on the front and rear of vehicles, adopting other necessary safety measures, and complying with road safety rules.

Furthermore, along with officials from all construction agencies (nodal Public Works Department) and other stakeholder departments concerned, under the action plan prepared by Save Life Foundation, a survey was conducted of relevant sites for remedial measures after identifying 266 critical crash-prone locations in Kanpur Nagar district, 17 previously identified black spots, and 12 new black spots.
