Mahindra Racing on Wednesday announced its commitment as a manufacturer for the GEN4 era of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, which begins with the 2026-27 season. The announcement was made during the unveiling of the team’s new M12Electro race car in India.Over the past 12 years, the team has established itself as a consistent performer, securing five E-Prix wins, 29 podiums, 11 pole positions and more than 1,000 championship points.Mahindra Racing’s current momentum follows a transformative 18-month period under CEO and Team Principal Frederic Bertrand.

A redesigned GEN3 car — the M11Electro — enabled drivers Nyck de Vries and Edoardo Mortara to secure five podiums in Season 11, helping the team finish fourth in the World Championship.

The newly unveiled M12Electro will be the team’s challenger for the upcoming season, with ambitions to maintain a regular podium presence and remain within the top five of the standings.

The team’s broader vision for GEN4 focuses on sustaining performance gains and emerging as a strong contender for the World Championship, competing against manufacturers such as Porsche, Jaguar and Nissan.

The FIA’s recently released GEN4 technical specifications mark a significant leap in performance and sustainability. The next-generation cars will deliver 450 kW of peak race power and up to 600 kW in ATTACK MODE, along with 700 kW of regenerative braking and a race energy capacity of up to 55 kWh. Two aerodynamic setups — high-downforce for qualifying and low-downforce for races — will be available, while the chassis will use 100 per cent recyclable materials.
